Social enterprise donates £2,200 to local project

Social enterprise and NHS community healthcare provider CSH Surrey has donated £2,200 to a Molesey-based Walking Football Club for the over 50s.

The club is organised by the Refresh Church Trust and aims to help bring people together as well as offer the chance to get active. The project helps to combat loneliness by providing weekly opportunities to meet up for those who may otherwise be living alone. Local residents are able to access the club from the age of 50, with over 40% of the clubs’ members being over 65. The grant will be used to cover the cost for pitch hire, equipment and coaching.

CSH Surrey’s Community Fund is run by a panel of its employees. They meet every two months to review grant applications and agree which project best meets the Fund’s criteria. Since 2012 CSH Surrey’s Community Fund has awarded grants of more than £40,000 to support projects that enhance the health and wellbeing of local communities.

Charities and local projects are welcome to apply for grants from CSH Surrey’s Community Fund. To apply, visit www.cshsurrey.co.uk/about-us/community-fund. The panel meets at least four times a year to consider applications. The next deadline for applications to be submitted is 25 May 2017.
