Wednesday 22 May 2019. We can confirm that fire crews were called to Walton Hospital at 1.31am last night after a member of staff raised the alarm following reports of smoke from a strip light. Seven patients were moved as a precautionary mention for a short period but were quickly able to return to bed. All patients and hospital staff are safe, and all next of kin were contacted. We will be cooperating with the Fire Brigade in their investigation.
